The Thistle House is centrally located on the south side of the City of Edinburgh in a very nice area of town (see map). It is only a 10-15 minute bus ride into the Edinburgh city centre.
In Edinburgh, the bus service is excellent and for around £2.50 you can buy an all-day bus ticket for use with the Lothian Bus service. The bus service stops running at around 11:30pm so if you are out drinking late you may want to catch a taxi which will cost around £8 from the Edinburgh city centre. Black cabs can be hailed in the street or found at one of the many taxi ranks in the city centre.
Getting to Edinburgh
Air – Edinburgh airport is situated to the west of Edinburgh. It is served by most domestic and international air operators. An airport bus or taxi ride from the airport takes around half an hour and costs around £7 or £20 respectively.
Rail – Edinburgh Waverley station is in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic city centre, so you will soak up the festival atmosphere as soon as you step off the train. The Scotrail shuttle service to Glasgow takes around 40 mins.
