Things to do and about Edinburgh

There is lots to do in Edinburgh all year round. There are five art galleries in total, including a portrait gallery, modern art gallery and The National Gallery of Scotland. These are open all year round and exhibit everyone from local artists to Monet.

If it's science you are interested in then the Royal Museum is situated in Chambers Street near the city center. It is free to get in and has a new section dedicated to the history of Scotland.

For a more interactive experience the Dynamic Earth is one of Edinburgh's most exciting, "must see" attractions. Take a thrilling journey back in time and learn about our planet Earth.

Edinburgh Zoo, the largest and most exciting wildlife attraction in Scotland, committed to the highest standards of animal welfare, conservation and environmental education.

If you come in August you will catch the Edinburgh International Festival and the Festival Fringe, more comedy, film, dance and theatre in one place than you have ever seen before. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo and firework display is on at Edinburgh Castle.

For drinking and eating Edinburgh has a wide variety of restaurants and bars many of which open until 3am (or 4am at festival time). If it a wee dram you are after then the Whiskey Heritage Center will introduce you to all the different processes that make Scotch Whisky unique and a chance to sample a few.

For fine Indian dining we recommend the award winning Suruchi restaurant.
